Bedtime Stories for Kids : Once upon a time, in a sparkling sky which was full of twinkling stars, there lived little Twinkle. Twinkle was not the biggest of them all, nor the brightest, but he had something in his heart: that is, dreams. At nights, he used to wish to shine brighter than other stars and look down towards the Earth.
One evening, as the sun went below the horizon, and painted orange and pink colors in the sky, Twinkle noticed a little girl sitting beside his window. He saw that she looked miserable. Twinkle’s heart tugged inside him, and he exclaimed to himself, “I want to help her!” But, how could a very tiny star like him do this?
Determined to find a way, Twinkle decided to seek advice from his wise friend, the Moon. “Oh, Moon,” Twinkle called out, “how can I help that little girl down there?”
The Moon smiled gently. “You don’t need to be the biggest or the brightest, dear Twinkle. Sometimes, it’s the smallest gestures that shine the most brightly in someone’s heart.”.
Inspired by what the Moon said, Twinkle was thinking hard about what to do for Lily.
Remembering how much she was fond of painting, Twinkle exclaimed, “I shall send her my light!” That night, while sitting in her room, having paints and brushes with her, Twinkle focused all of his energy on shining with all his might. And he sent down rays of soft light that were like dancing through her window, onto her canvas.
She looked at the colors coming alive with Twinkle’s glow and gasped in excitement. “Wow! Like magic!” she exclaimed, this time smiling for the first time that evening. Under the starry sky, she was painting a lovely field filled with flowers.
As she was painting, Twinkle felt warm inside. He felt that his light was somehow helping Lily feel happy again. But then he saw something quite strange—his glow began to fade! “Oh no!” he thought. “I can’t let Lily down!”
Just in time, the Moon piped up again. “Remember, Twinkle, your light comes from your heart! The more you give, the more you will shine.”
With renewed determination, Twinkle poured all his love into his glow. He pictured all the joy Lily would feel when she finished painting. Slowly but surely, his light grew brighter and brighter until it filled her entire room.
Liley just sat back and admired it as she was finally complete. It was a breathtaking image of flowers under a glutenous sky—such just the thing that was outside the window. “Thanks so much, little star,” she whispered as she was staring at Twinkle.
Fulfillment and gladness overwhelmed Twinkle but brought to him something precious from these acts: helping was his brightener.
And every time Lily is painting under Twinkle’s light, she felt the inspiration and merriment.
Every time Twinkle is shining down on her, she feels like the biggest star in the universe.
