Children’s bedtime stories:
There was a little turtle named Tilly living in a pond, where the tall grasses waved and blooming flowers perfumed all around. Now Tilly was no ordinary little turtle; she had a bit of curiosity and adventure in her heart. Day after day, she watched the other animals frolic about and go searching, dreaming of going on an adventure of her own.
One sunny morning Tilly said, “I want to see what lives beyond the pond.” “I want to explore the big meadow!” she declared to her friends, Benny the Bunny and Lila the Ladybug.
“Oh, Tilly, it’s so far away!” said Benny, twitching his nose. “What if you get scared?”
Lila fluttered her wings and added, “And what if you can’t find your way back?
Tilly smiled confidently. “I’m a heroine! I can do this! With that, she set off on her journey, leaving her friends behind.
Tilly was happy, but a little apprehensive as she waddled along the path. The tall grass swayed gently in the breeze and sun warmed her shell. After what seemed like some time, she came to a spot where she could see the edge of the pond down a curved slope and out before her lay a great meadow- full of colorful flowers dancing in the breeze, butterflies flitting about.
“This is pretty!” exclaimed Tilly, her heart bursting with happiness. She took a deep breath, and walked into the meadow.
As she further explored, Tilly came across many pleasant animals. A wise old owl said, perched on a branch, “Hello, there! What brings you to our meadow?”
“I’m exploring!” replied Tilly with pride. “I want to see new things!
The owl nodded wisely. “Good! Just keep your wits about you and an eye on where you are.”
Tilly thanked the owl and set off along her way. She gasped at the flowers’ colors and ran after butterflies. But soon she went too far from the right path and then didn’t understand what had happened to the meadow.
Oh no! Where am I?” Tilly said softly, a little frightened. The tall grass here looked different from everywhere else she remembered, and she hadn’t seen anything familiar around.
Just then, she heard a rustling in that direction. It was Benny and Lila! They had followed her to be sure she was all right.
“Tilly! We were worried about you!” Benny said, jumping closer.
“I lost myself,” said Tilly, relieved to find her friends. “I didn’t mean to get this far.”
Lila leaped on top of Tilly’s shell and said softly, “It’s alright! We can help you find your way together.”
With her friends, Tilly felt braver than she ever had before. They trod back into the meadow along the path they came from. As they journeyed, they continued singing and telling stories about their adventures.
Finally, they reached the edge of the pond once more. Tilly gave a bright smile as she looked at her friends. “Thanks for coming to find me! I wouldn’t have been able to do it without you!
She smiled. “We’re always here for you!”
Lila added, “And, of course, never forget that it’s perfectly okay to ask for help when you need it.”
That night, as Tilly settled into her snuggly spot by the pond, she realized that adventures are even better when shared with friends.
