Children’s bedtime stories: In a long old oak tree stood an ant colony, in which was found little Andy, one among thousands, small compared to his siblings in size, but large with respect to the love he possessed for people within the colony and had the even bigger dream: helping other members in that colony.
One sunny morning, as the sun poked its rays through the leaves, Andy saw that a fallen twig had blocked the entrance to their home. The other ants were trying to push it. “I can help!” Andy shouted out loud, but the bigger ants just chuckled. “You are too small, Andy! Leave it to us.”
He went a bit sad but with a strong will to try to do something. So, he decided to find a different way to help, walked into the nearby meadow and found a pretty flower with bright petals and sweet nectar. “This might be useful,” he thought.
Andy slowly collected some nectar in a tiny drop and ran back to the colony. “Well, I found this!” he declared, showing the nectar to his fellow ants. “We can use this for energy while we work on moving the twig!”
The big ants were taken aback by Andy’s cleverness. They lapped the nectar and felt energized. Together, with renewed strength, they easily lifted the heavy twig from the ground. “Thank you, Andy!” they shouted. “You really helped us!”
He was glad that they appreciated him and so continued to assist them. The following day, Andy ventured further into the meadow and discovered a sparkling stream. He ran back to share his discovery with the colony. “There’s fresh water nearby! We can carry it back for everyone!”
The ants were amazed at how resourceful Andy was. They lined up and carried water back to their home in a cooperative effort. The colony appreciated Andy’s input, and soon everyone looked at him in a new light.
As days passed, Andy continued his adventure. He found food sources in the form of ripe berries and even discovered a shortcut through the grass that helped make travel easier for everyone. Each time he came back with something new, his fellow ants cheered him on.
One day, while wandering about near the oak tree, Andy found a ladybug trapped in a spider’s web. The ladybug was frightened and helpless-looking. Andy rushed over immediately. “Don’t worry! I’ll help you!
Using all his strength and will, Andy nibbled through the web until it gave way. The ladybug flew into the air with gratitude and relief. “Thank you so much! You’re so brave!” she said with a smile.
News of the little ant’s good heart spread all over the meadow, and before long, animals from everywhere started coming to ask him for help. Be it in search of food or saving others, Andy was referred to as the little good-hearted ant who was always willing to lend a helping hand.
One day, all ants stood around Andy to celebrate him. They narrated stories about his adventure, how he made things better for them.
